Where is a good place to study Spanish in June?
I am looking for a place to study spanish but do not want to go to Spain (too expensive). I would like to go for a month but not spend too much money. I am a teacher so I will be on a budget!
You could try Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic. There are so many latin countries you could choose from. I would suggest researching these countries and see what culture you are interested in most! I don’t know about the cost but, I know that Mexico is really cheap.
Does anyone know of any good, " how to speak Spanish" programs?
I’m 15, I only speak english, but I would really like to learn spanish. I just started a spanish class in school, but on top of that, I want to study the language on my own, so that I may be able to speak spanish more fluently, faster. Right now I am trying to find some kind of program that could help me learn more. If you no of any really good audio cd’s / computer software/ books/ or anything that i could buy, please share. Thanks.
Rosetta stone.. and Hook on phonics has a spanish program geared for young children, but it cold work.. I saw it at my local Costco

How good is it to receive a Spanish language diploma?
I will be receiving a spanish language diploma soon and it is at the (Superior/Proficiency)level. How good/useful will this be for health care.
health care or any job. Im planning on working in California.
It is a diploma that certifies your level of Spanish. There are 3 levels : beginner, intermediate, superior.
I have NO idea what you are talking about…but pretty much anywhere in the US, if you can speak fluent Spanish, and communicate with a person who is semi coherent, and babbling in Spanish, to find out where it hurts, etc., you’re pretty much golden!
I think in Colorado (at least in my part) they have to have at least one person in an ambulance/emergency room who can communicate well in spanish.
They have been teaching everyone in the health industry around here.

What is a good Spanish course for someone who knows French?
I know French and so I can understand *loads* of vocabulary passively, and I know basic Spanish phrases as well. So I am looking for a course which I won’t get bored with because it’s too easy or moves too slowly.
You’ll pick up spanish quickly if you have a good knowledge of another romance langauge… I can recommend perhaps Michel Thomas’ vocab CDs, or teh Rosetta Stone program. Or Suenos – it’s a Spanish program put out by the BBC in the UK (it’s available on Amazon to buy with CDs).
Good luck!
Should I attend Spanish classes or should I attend a Spanish speaking church?
I am tossed between taking more spanish classes or trying it by fellowshiping. I have not taken good courses in a while, but I know I want to do so. On the other hand, most foreigners learn English outside of the classroom. They have on the job training by conversing with Americans. I do not know whether I should put more emphasis on being around those who speak only spanish or go to class for the traditional methods. What’s your take?
I’d say go for both, if possible. It is best to learn it(classroom), and then get to see it applied and use it in a real world setting(the church). I think that would work the best and make it the easiest to truly become conversational in it.
What spanish speaking country should i go to to study abroad in college?
I have researched many spanish speaking countries and have found many colleges I would be interested in but I really don’t know what country is best to go to to learn spanish and be able to go to a really good school. I also want to make sure the degree I earn would be effective once I came back to the states. I really want anyone’s opinions on this- preferably if you have personal experience with this. Thank you!
Hola, haha umm yeah i’ve been on exchange three times to spanish speaking countries. I can highly recommend all three. The first time i studied in sevilla, spain. The spanish there is quite quick and they tend to drop the ’s’ quite a bit. so instead of mas o menos they would say ma o meno well that’s how it sounds anyway. But it grows on you. There are plenty of spanish universities which will give you a high calibre degree.
After that i studied in Monterrey, Mexico. This was a great experience. i found mexicans more friendly and open than people in seville (although that could have been just because my spanish was better then and i was pretty retarded in spain) and i was able to make lots of mexican friends which was great for learning the language. Tec de monterrey has an excellent reputation in the US (www.itesm.mx) o la UDEM is also quite good depending on what you’re studying (www.udem.edu.mx).
After that i studied in Santiago, Chile. I would say that chilean spanish is the most difficult for when you are learning. It is super quick and they use so much slang. But they say if you can speak chilean spanish you can speak any kind of spanish. The best university there is la PUC (www.puc.cl/). Wherever you go you will have such a good time and it will be really enriching. Good luck Buena suerte
What is the best way to learn spanish beside rosetta stone?
I want to learn spanish but the price of rosetta stone is too steep. I would like to know from a spanish speaker’s point of view but others are welcome. Are their any good free alternatives?
thanks you
I think the old fashioned way is best. Take a class. Learn the basics: pronouns, conjugation, tenses. Once you have the basics down, you can teach yourself although it is easier if you are around spanish speaking people and you are brave enough to speak to them. Just keep practicing and adding to your vocabulary. I took basic spanish classes in high school, then later learned to speak fluently by conversing with other people.
Where should I open my language school in Jamaica?
I would like to open a language school in Jamaica. People could study there French and spanish.
St. Andrew would be pretty cool but even better one of the resort areas so persons in the hospitality sector could benefit. You could also promote it to hotels and seek for them to pay for their staff to do courses there…. Montego Bay and Ocho Rios would be cool for that.
