Best city to study Spanish in Nicaragua?

I want to visit Nicaragua for a couple of weeks and want to study Spanish at the same time. I want to stay in a city where I can enjoy a nice beach, nice scenery, and maybe a cute little town to explore.

In particular, I know there are reputable schools in Grenada, Leguna de Apoyo, San Juan del Sur, Esteli, Leon, and Managua. Any suggestions among these? Or perhaps another city where there may be a school that might be more highly preferred?

Managua is the main and biggest city in Nicaragua, however, i highly recommend you go to Granada and study Spanish there. There are many good schools in Granada to study spanish, not to mention a large ex-pat community of practically every country you can think of. I ran in to a rather nice young lady in her early 20s’ from Shanghai who had been living there for over a year learning spanish and was really good. She even got the Nica accent down from spending time in locals hang outs in Granada. Another good thing about learning Spanish there is the wonderful Spanish colonial buildings and houses, everything is colorful and the people are obviously friendly. On weekends you can head out to Managua if you want, its about an hour away or head to Lake Nicaragua (which borders Granada) and head to Ometepe Island, or Zapatera Island. The rainforest on Ometepe is amazing, there is also a reserve (offers guided tours) called Charco Verde. If your into art, the Solentiname Islands in Lake Nicaragua are your spot. Its a haven for artists and potterys, amazing talent there.

Anyone have any great suggestion to great learning/immersion spanish language abroad programs?

I’m a high school student who is interested in traveling to spanish speaking countries to experience the country and learn more spanish. I would really love to know of any great summer programs/foreign exchange….etc. that would be great for me. Even if programs are not focused on traveling to spanish speaking countries, i would appreciate it if anyone could share any information conmigo(with me).

Without a doubt Spain would be the best and to be exact Santander, where they speak the purest form of the Spanish language. It´s a beautiful and safe (considered one of safest places in Europe) fun beach resort. I can recommend an extraordinarily wonderful program all alumni have been raving about after their participation www.beautifulspain.com
Their host families are extremely well screened, loving and caring and have experience in hosting exchange students. This program allows you sign up with a friend with whom to stay in same host family home or different one. They also offer a few choices of families for you to give the final word for a perfect fit. This programs provides you with a Diploma for your resume, and college application.
Many participants are returnees from prior years that love coming year after year and stil manages to keep it as a small group for best individual attention.
The best part is that for its much lower cost than other programs includes fun and exciting activities such as cooking, spanish language, dancing classes combined with others such as fireworks on the beach, bullfight, beach days, tallship boat trip, Aquarium, paella dinner, fishing village, medieval towns, canoeing down the river trip, Roman route hiking trip, Guggenheim museum, shopping the sales, city tour and much more. There is no more complete, fun and safe program at this low cost.
Good luck and enjoy!!

where can i download audio spanish lessons?

im looking for just basic words said in spanish then English, so i can listen to it on my ipod when i go to bed.
here’s an example. correr-run comar-eat.

Buy yourslef an audio dictionary for your iPod/mp3 player. That’s what I did but you would still need formal lessons for conjugations and reflexive verbs as well a decent explanation of the preterite form.

how to find a someone whom I can share the spanish language?

I am interested in learning spanish, but I want to have someone i can communicate in spanish with to help me retain the language. I have learned a few things, and I have invested in discs and other learning material, but i would like to establish an interaction of speaking spanish, between two people, so that i can really learn the language. Any suggestions?

1.Watch the news in Spanish. This is a good exercise because you will always have a context. Watch the film as you listen to the story.

2.Watch spanish-language films. You can read the subtitles and listen at the same time.

3.Eavesdrop. When you hear people speaking in Spanish try to understand what they are saying to each other.

4.Be fearless. When you are in a setting in which you can use your Spanish just do it. Most Spanish-speakers are glad to help and happy you are trying.

5.Look for things written in Spanish in your home (e.g. instructions for appliances) and see how much you understand. This is a good way to learn new vocabulary.

I would check with some resources in Peru, since Spanish and Japanese are the primary languages.

What type of spanish to rich people speak as compared to the poor spanish people?

Like, the rich spanish people who own big homes in gated neighborhoods and drive expensive vehicle, what type of spanish to they speak?

Then, what type of spanish do the poor spanish people speak (the ones that don’t live in the expensive gated communities)?
To the answered with screen name "?", that was a good answer.

Well, I would say that a poor person would be likely to have less education and would have worse grammar and use more slang as a result, but thats true of any language. However, there is an accent that my family calls "chilango" that sounds dumb and is usually spoken by poor people in places like DF or Tijuana, though not always. Im not saying they are dumb, they just sounds silly. Think a Georgia or Alabama accent.
