How difficult is the AP Spanish Language exam?

Yes, I know . . . it’s a little late. But anyhow, I’m taking the AP spanish language exam tomorrow, and I’m kind of freaking out because I don’t feel like I’ve been prepared enough in class (although I’ve been studying like crazy on my own).

So, for people that have taken this exam in particular (or are in the same boat that I’m in right now):

How difficult is this exam?
How much is it curved?
Any last minute helpful hints or tips or insights?

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

I’m writing to report about the existence of a new educational resource for learning spanish as a foreign language (www.audiria.com). It’s a web page totally free for teachers as well as for students. You will find daily a new audio file about very different topics (Spanish culture, grammar, novels, news, radio, daily scenes, El Quijote). Audio files are accompanied by the corresponding texts (also for free) and exercises where you can check your understanding degree.

I think it can be very useful, for me it is¡

Advnanced Spanish Grammar class?

I’m planning an Adv. spanish grammar class intended for majors and minors (university level, approximately 6th-7th semester of study). Students of Spanish, what would you like to learn in such a class? What’s difficult for you?
Mil gracias por vuestras sugerencias!

I took AP spanish Language last year, which I’m guessing was about the same level as your class will be. One of the most valuable/interesting things we did was a unit on false cognates and things that don’t translate well from Spanish to English. For example, we learned that aplicarse isn’t the right verb when you’re talking about applying to college, all the different ways to say "become" in different contexts (hacerse, convertirse en), other things like that. We also learned lots of common phrases and idioms, which was very useful in conversation as well as writing for the AP exam.

What motivated the Spanish to colonize in the 16th century?

Was the spanish arrival good or bad for the new world? What advantages and disadvantages did the Spanish have as colonizers?

They wanted gold and to further their world dominance that they held at that time. Cementing a large number of colonies in the "new world" would give Spain a leg up on the competition, mainly England. And there were absolutely no advantages for the natives because they were wiped out as a result.

What is the best way to learn Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese quickly?

I would like to learn spanish and Brazilian Portuguese properly, but also fairly quickly.
What is the best way to do that?

The absolute fastest way to learn a language, is total immersion. Which means that you have to surround yourself with this language. First you learn the basics. Maybe do a starters course. Then, after you understand the basic structure of the language, immerse yourself. Change your cellphone language to spanish (or portuguese), watch spanish movies, listen to spanish music, change your hotmail, yahoo or msn to spanish, see if you can meet some spanish people and talk to them a lot, go to yahoo messenger chat rooms in spanish. TOTAL IMMERSION. At first you probably wont understand squat, but after a short period of time, without realizing it, you’ll be picking up very quickly.

Hope this helps!

For Foreigners, especiallKoreans: What can say you about the services of the Ateneo de Manila Language School?

I have friends who wish to study in this language school in the Philippines, and we need to know if the students really improve their English speaking ability and comprehension from this school -if the place is worth one’s money. My friend’s are Koreans. But other Foreigners can also answer this question. Thank you very much in advance.

Hi, i’m from the Ateneo de Manila University… I’m not a foreigner (since I’m a Filipino) but I can definitely say that Ateneo is one of the best language schools you can get into in the Philippines… I’ve heard some of the foreigners who go here speak English, and they seem to be doing pretty well, if you don’t mind the strong accent.. And I know I won’t be your best source but I know that there has been a sudden increase in the number of foreigners, especially Koreans, who want to learn English here… And this has resulted to an increase in the number of schools, businesses, and organizations, who provide teaching services…

Good luck!
