What do you need to do to become a spanish teacher in the US if you are a native spanish speaker ?
Hi my name is Mercedes, i am from Argentina and spanish is my first language. Right now i am studying to become a nurse and i will be done in a year, but i eventually want to become spanish teacher. Since i am already fluent in spanish, would i have to take all the courses to get my bachelors? I just want to know what is it that i need to do to become a spanish teacher, anybody knows how it works?
I used to go to a school, where the spanish teacher, someone I knew, was hired just because he was a native Puerto Rican and knew Spanish. He did not have any degrees in teaching, but was good with children. The school needed a Spanish teacher, which probably helped him, but I think there is not requirement. This was a private school, and rules might be different with public schools though. Though in these times, I it might seen that even if you were the most qualified person in the world, it might be hard to find a open slot, with people clinging onto their jobs. But right now most of the schools in my area always have an open spot for someone with this talent. Good luck.
Is Spanish Honor Society important on a college application? What are good things to put on an application?
Do you have a better chance of getting into a good college for businees (as I am planning to do) if you have Spanish Honor Society on your list. Some other things I am planning to receive and put on my application are National Honor Society, Key Club (volunteer work), Student Council, and Eagle Scout.
Sorry spanish Honor Society is basically that in 7 semesters (Freshman through half of Senior year) you got at least 4 A’s and 3 B’s.
The most important parts of your application are your grades and how challenging your course load was. Spanish Honor Society probably isn’t going to sway the decision on whether or not to admit you, but it is definitely something you should include in your application. Proficiency in other languages is definitely a plus. Not every high school has a Spanish Honor Society so you could provide a brief explanation in your resume. Give specific details as to what you did in each of your activities.

How did the Spanish communicate with the Natives?
Before the Spanish conquests, there were interactions between the spanish and the natives. How did they communicate with each other?
Gestures and eventually they learned each others words.
What is the best way to translate orally Spanish to English?
Hi, So I learned many languages at school. I have to translate for a big audience from Spanish to English. My mother tongue is Spanish, I’m pretty good with English too, but feel a little afraid to translate from Spanish to English because of the difference of the languages, and all of that. I’m more of a Spanish speaker Can anyone help me with some advice, tips or something, I don’t wanna look like an idiot.
thanks!
The conditions are in your favor, Seya, because one of the most important things to consider when translating is (1) understanding the message in the original language clearly. Also please pay special attention to the following:
2. (After understanding the message clearly…) Your translation is an interpretation, not a word-for-word translation and sometimes not even a sentence-for-sentence translation. Sometimes you’ll translate a couple of sentences as only one, while keeping the original message, of course.
3. The timing is important, that is, when and how fast you can start to translate (Not how fast you talk!), to make it seem more natural to the audience. To make it more manageable, talk to the person who will make the speech (the speaker) and agree on how often he/she will pause so that you can start translating.
4. Know both the speaker and the audience. It is important to know as much as you can about their backgrounds (countries of origin, political/sports interests, religions, … culture). Some words would seem offensive as they’re translated depending on the culture of your audience.
5. Try no to use slang words or expressions, regardless of how much the speaker uses them in his language (spanish, in this case). Use standard English as much as possible so that everyone understands the message.
5. Sometimes -Well, seldom- you won’t translate, but explain what the speaker is talking about. For example, when the speaker tells a joke based on his own culture or current event of his country/state of origin, it may not make sense or be funny for most of your audience. You might need to say "He’s telling a joke". The audience will decide whether to laugh or not to show respect.
6. Last -but not least- if possible, do something funny right before the speech begins so that you get your audience to smile or laugh. It will make you and your audience feel more relaxed. For example, if the speaker says "Good evening!", translate it and say something else and suddenly stop, apologize and tell the audience that you’re so nervous that you could even read his mind and translate in advance. Well, this may not work, but you do think about something funny.
Good luck!!!

What is the Spanish word for the game of tag or a similar common running and chasing game?
I am looking for a Latin/South American spanish word (not a Spanish word from Spain) specifically a Mexican word or a Chilean word if possible for the game of tag. Or if not exactly the game tag, a common chasing and running game that children play that requires no equipment. If the game you answer is not actually tag but another common running game, please give me a description of how the game is played. Thank you.
game of tag = La mancha or el juego de la mancha

What motivated the Spanish to colonize in the 16th century?
Was the spanish arrival good or bad for the new world? What advantages and disadvantages did the Spanish have as colonizers?
They wanted gold and to further their world dominance that they held at that time. Cementing a large number of colonies in the "new world" would give Spain a leg up on the competition, mainly England. And there were absolutely no advantages for the natives because they were wiped out as a result.
