If you intend to spend a lot of time in Spain, whether by living there or frequent, lengthy stays, you will want to learn spanish. For short visits, a few phrases may be sufficient but not for a longer stay and, especially, if you are living in the country. It is difficult to live in the country without speaking and understanding the language, which will help you adapt much faster.

There are quite a few options available today for learning Spanish, and you will need to find the best method for you. What works best for one student may not be the most effective learning method for another student. A combination approach often is best, which may include formal instruction, self study and practical use of the language.

Private instruction or language schools are easy to find, though they can be expensive in some cases. The most expensive method for learning Spanish is private instruction, but one-on-one instruction may be the best method for you as compared to group classes. Nonetheless, if you are not able to maintain a self-study program and keep up with the lessons, formal language instruction whether one-on-one or in a group is probably the best choice.

Language exchanges are another great learning tool which can be found on the internet or in magazines and newspapers. Language exchange is more information learning method whereby you learn through informal conversation rather than curriculum-based. You can also use language exchanges as a supplement to a curriculum program or formal instruction, since any opportunity to speak and listen to the language will be beneficial.

If you are moving to Spain, you may want to check with the local city government as they may be able to provide you with some suggestions on local language programs. Some city governments even offer courses which are often free. Of course, there are language schools in Spain. For instance, there is a spanish language School in Madrid, the capital of the country.

Once you have learned the basics of the Spanish language, you will want to fine-tune what you have learned and continue to improve your conversational ability. Making friends in Spain is a great opportunity to converse using your new language skills. Not only will you be able to use your speaking and listening skills, making friends will also help you feel more at home.

As far as formal instruction, you can subscribe to more advanced materials such as a magazine subscription or a cassette. For example, the Puerta del Sol is a bimonthly publication which can not only help with your reading and speaking skills but also help you learn about the culture.

Finally, language or social clubs are a good way to improve your skills. These discussion groups are less instructional and more social and generally meet over dinner. This is a great combination of making friends, improving your language skills and eating a great Spanish meal. Such social situations help you gain confidence in your language abilities outside of the classroom and in the real world.

I am doing my graduation on Comparative Literature taking English as first language. My spanish course is of 3years.

Why would you want to speak Spanish in India? Are there significant Spanish-speaking communities there?

I would love to learn Spanish more seriously (am currently trying to self learn it), but it’s difficult and rather pointless because spanish is hardly spoken in my country (Indonesia); and the necessary resources and community to help me improve the language are virtually nonexistent.

I don’t know about the demand for the spanish language for India; but in Indonesia it is one of the less popular foreign languages studied… less popular than French, Japanese, and even Korean (I wonder why… who speaks Korean outside Korea anyway?) So even if you get a job as a Spanish teacher, chances are that your classes won’t be big, and neither will your earnings be.

The job that comes to my mind which earns quite well, where you get to use your Spanish, is to work for an embassy of a Spanish-speaking country. I’ve a cousin who does that, and she loves her job! If you’re also open to work on a freelance basis, perhaps you could apply as a stringer journalist or special correspendent to a Spanish-language media, submitting your work from India.

Spanish is a language that is widely spoken around the world. And in today’s global marketplace, many people are realizing why it is imperative they learn the Spanish language. It would help them greatly in their personal and business dealings. If you want to learn the Spanish language, you need to be aware that along with the advantages come a few challenges.

Learning the Spanish language does not have to be difficult, however. Below are four ways you can learn the Spanish language that is more fun, exciting and less stressful. Just apply these four ways as you are learning the Spanish language and you’ll be speaking and understanding the language in no time.

Learn the Spanish Language by Conversing

You may know all the Spanish words and phrases, but if you do not put into practice what you learn, you are not going to become proficient in the language. Take every opportunity to apply what you have learned. For instance, practice your Spanish at Mexican or Spanish-speaking restaurants. Try ordering your meals in Spanish and even greeting the servers in Spanish.

You can also practice your Spanish by reading Spanish novels and other printed materials. See how much you understand. You can even try translating what you read. You can also try translating simple English sentences in Spanish. If you have friends or family members who speak Spanish, you can practice conversing with them in the language.

Learn the spanish language with the Help of a Spanish-English Dictionary

You can learn the Spanish language quickly and easily with the help of a Spanish-English Dictionary. You can increase your vocabulary of Spanish words. You will be able to know when and where to use the Spanish words. When you are reading printed materials in Spanish, make sure you have your Spanish-English dictionary close by. You can flip through it if you come across Spanish words you do not recognize or many have forgotten.

Learn the Spanish Language by Signing Up for an Advanced Spanish Class

Once you know the basics of learning Spanish, consider signing up for an advanced spanish class so you can continue to progress with your learning. You can either take the advanced Spanish class at your local college or you can sign up for a class online. If you truly want to become proficient, the key is to not stop learning the Spanish language, which means you will have to find ways to continue learning the language.

Learn the Spanish Language by Travelling to Spanish-Speaking Countries

One of the best ways to learn the Spanish language is to travel to Spanish-speaking countries so you can interact with the locals, as well as experience the culture. So when you’re planning your next vacation, why not travel to Mexico, Spain or any country where Spanish is widely spoken?

Now you know the four ways to learn the Spanish language, there would be no more reason for you to not to learn to speak Spanish fluently.

I wanted to know if they like the spanish, as you can see that language as it sounds, that language seems to Italian, French …….
I have curiosity, for us English is a language is very beautiful and very fashionable in our society.

I believe Spanish language is wonderful and unique, and scientists from all over the world say it’s one of the most advanced for its phonology.
I believe this is also true because when you are reading it you’re not worried about pronunciation, as the 5 vowels have only 1 sound each, and not 20 like in French language.
The Spanish language is extremely diverse, more than any other language do, something that I like really much.
I enjoy spanish language every day and I will keep doing so.

Many people choose to learn Spanish in Latin America because of the wide range of incredible locations in which to learn the language. Students can choose a beach location like Montanita in Ecuador, or a very historic town like Cusco, high up in the Andean Mountains of Peru. Whether you want to explore archaeological sites, experience indigenous culture, observe wildlife, or simply laze on unspoilt beaches, Latin America provides all the ingredients for the perfect learning experience.

If you want to see the jungle or have always wanted to go to Machu Picchu, then take a Spanish course that facilitates these aspirations. For example, El Paraiso spanish language School (Costa Rica) enables students to stay in Manuel Antonio National Park, with its beautiful beaches and extraordinary biodiversity. ACUPARI Language School (Peru) is based in Cusco, the amazing capital of the ancient Inca Empire. Some students divide their time between two locations so they can explore the natural and cultural diversity of Latin America.

Another reason people choose to learn spanish in Latin America is the immense choice of courses available. They range from private one-to-one tuition to a myriad of specialized programmes. For example, Interhispanica (Argentina) offer Spanish and Latin American economy classes. OLÉ (Mexico) offer specially designed programmes for children, teenagers and seniors. Educacion Para Todos (Guatemala) offer customised programmes for social science and medical professionals. Most language schools offer special modules to meet the needs and personal interests of students.

A popular option is to combine a spanish course with some volunteer work, either once you have finished your language course or during the time when you are not attending lessons. Typical areas of work include helping out in orphanages or nursery schools, working in local community projects, assisting with wildlife or conservation projects. Volunteer Latin America provides information on over one hundred Spanish language schools that offer volunteer work and internships. One such school is Tandem Santiago – Escuela de Idiomas Violeta Parra (Chile), which arranges internships for high school graduates and college students throughout Chile.

Many language schools enable students to combine a Spanish course with adventure and sporting activities. For example, Andean Global Studies (Ecuador) offer Spanish classes combined with diving, surfing or kiteboarding. The Mariposa Spanish School and Eco Hotel (Nicaragua) organizes horse riding trips to the Masaya Volcano. A wide range of outdoor pursuits and activities are offered at other language schools including trekking, paragliding, rock climbing, river rafting, skiing and snowboarding.

In addition to the Spanish courses, most language schools offer extra-curricular activities to suit the tastes of all students. This includes attending sporting events, jungle hikes, guitar lessons, cooking classes, movie evenings, trips to the theatre, parties, and excursions to local places of interest (archaeological sites, indigenous communities, national parks, etc).

From the evidence cited above, it is easy to understand why many people choose to learn Spanish in Central or South America. There isn’t anywhere better to combine a language course with learning new skills and having fun. For example, a Spanish course combined with Salsa, Merengue or Tango dance lessons is a great way of meeting other like-minded travellers and having fun. Many students forge lifelong friendships through such an experience.

So what are you waiting for? Immerse yourself in the Spanish language and culture of Latin America for the most rewarding educational experience of your life.

Forget about Spain, where the accent isn’t as attractive and prices far higher than in Latin America.

And in the case of Mexicans in the U.S., promotes a dangerous separatism that threatens U.S. sovereignty over the U.S. southwest.

NOTE: There was a typo.. at 1:27, the correct spanish word is “AMA” but I wrote “ALMA” instead. The Spanish phrase should read: “Las AMA el que las ve”.

I am interested in studying Spanish in Mexico or South America. I want to study as an international student at a university, rather than going through a spanish language program (such as don Quixote). Which universities have the best spanish programs for international students?

Buenos Aires, Universidad Autonoma de Mexico, are the best Latin American Uiversityes, Also the Universidad de Chile and the Pontificia Universita’, in the same country are of international renown.
I would go for Argentina or Chile: se habla un castellano mas elegante.
