like the person before me find some one who is a native spanish speaker and ask them to help you also when studying think of it as if you were learning it as your first language don’t think of it as english much i hope you understand what i mean

What are good things to pack if I am going to study spanish in Spain for a month?

For those who have experienced this…I am going for a month and I am doing the "Homestay" thing where you stay in the house of a spanish family..I will be going to Segovia.. also it would be helpful to know some things about Spanish customs that aren’t taught in school. Thanks!!
I will be going from end of June to end of July
Also is there anything nice that is good to give to your host family when you arrive?

mr_goura… had some good suggestions. I lived in Spain for 3 summers, so I’ll try to give you perspective about what you’ll need there. You will do a lot of walking, so take good comfortable shoes. Segovia is beautiful, can sometimes be a little windy, so may want to have a jacket on hand even though it’s summer. I’ve had a little trouble in the past with the plug converters for hair dryers, etc., so I recommend just buying a cheap one there if you need one. Your hosts will appreciate any gift really, but they usually enjoy something that represents home for you.

Be prepared to have a different meal schedule. Very small, light breakfast: hot chocolate or coffee and cookies for example. The lunch is a larger meal than you’re probably used to mid-day and you’ll get to try lots of great new foods, but it’s sometimes a little on the heavy side, especially in the summer. Be gracious and try to kindly express if the portions are too much for you. (this is why they siesta, you know) Dinner will come probably after 8 pm and be a little bit on the smaller side than lunch. As families, they usually eat slowly and converse quite a bit during mealtimes.

Youth are usually out late in the evenings at clubs and tapa bars.

Have a great time; Spain is wonderful.

what is a good way to study for spanish?

i need help learning spanish. what is the most efficient way to study for it?thx.

if youre looking to study vocab i can tell you the way i did it.
1. Pay attention in class
2. Night before WRITE DOWN every vocab word you need to know and its english meaning on opposite sides of a sheet of paper
3. Cover one side and try to remember the definition, any words you cant remember rewrite
4. Day of (if possible) repeat 2 and 3
i cant stress the importance of writing it, thats the most important part
if your studying grammar rules like conjugation, you need to just go over the same tense or what ever with different words until you get it
5. if possible, speaking spanish with a native is absolutely the best way to learn all spanish

Can I study French and Spanish to a level standard in one year in France?

I’d like to study French & spanish at degree level but need an a level in both subjects first. If I study 3 languages (one at beginner level) I don’t need to do the access course as this is just for the part of the course that’s taught in English.

the easiest way to learn a language is to spend time in an area where that is the main language spoken, and don’t spend too much time with English speakers.

What is an easy way to study Spanish?

I am in Spanish 2, and I have a really hard time learning it, because my teacher teaches it a different way. I am more of a Do it learner, than a watch some one explain it. I like learning through Games and such, and expeirences. How can I learn spanish with this?
Well you see….I can’t buy anything, and I don’t know anyone who can speak it fluently.

Best thing to do would be to find someone who can speak it fluently and have him/her talk with you. It doesn’t matter what you talk about as long as he/she isn’t using complex sentences. I speak spanish sometimes to my gf and she’s understanding it the more I keep talking to her in spanish. Plus I think that’s the most realistic way of learning a new language. That’s how I learned to speak English. Good Luck

Any good ways to study Spanish vocabulary?

I get new vocabulary lists each week, sometimes two or three times at a time. And than I usually have a quiz over them after a number of days.
It’s hard to learn that large amount of words each time, and that fast.
Any good sugestions for ways I could study vocabulary ?

My teacher sugested making flash cards, but than I’ll have to use a lot of cards.

I am in Spanish right now and I make flash cards all of the time. I get index cards and cut them in half so I don’t waste as many cards. It is the best thing I have done to learn the words. I put them on a ring and take them everywhere. I do them frontwards and backwards… saying them in English and spanish both. Flash cards are definitely the way to go, as your teacher suggested.

What is the best city to visit and study spanish in Colombia?

I would like to be able to experience authentic Colombian culture (not simply the side that is based on tourism) and be able to interact with local people and practice the spanish language while on a trip there. I prefer medium sized cities, but won’t entirely rule out Bogota if it really is the best option. I would also prefer to go somewhere that has good language schools. Any recommendations?

i would suggest bogota although lots of cities in colombia to choose from. Bogota has to be good to learn spanish because you meet a variety of people from all over colombia and the accent there is neutral not like meddllin or cali although i love those cities. Either one you chose you wont regret. But dont pick a small town though
