“Chau” is not Spanish from Spain. (I said this because he seems to be using Spanish from Spain and he has an iberian peninsula map right on the wall).
The correct word is “chao”.
“Chau” is in use in Argentina, Bolivia, Perú and Uruaguay.
At least is what rae . es / chau says.
