What do you need to do to become a spanish teacher in the US if you are a native spanish speaker ?
Hi my name is Mercedes, i am from Argentina and spanish is my first language. Right now i am studying to become a nurse and i will be done in a year, but i eventually want to become spanish teacher. Since i am already fluent in spanish, would i have to take all the courses to get my bachelors? I just want to know what is it that i need to do to become a spanish teacher, anybody knows how it works?
I used to go to a school, where the spanish teacher, someone I knew, was hired just because he was a native Puerto Rican and knew Spanish. He did not have any degrees in teaching, but was good with children. The school needed a Spanish teacher, which probably helped him, but I think there is not requirement. This was a private school, and rules might be different with public schools though. Though in these times, I it might seen that even if you were the most qualified person in the world, it might be hard to find a open slot, with people clinging onto their jobs. But right now most of the schools in my area always have an open spot for someone with this talent. Good luck.
I’m not 100% sure—it may depend upon the state that you live in currently. You’d probably have to take education classes to get your teacher’s license because you have to do that regardless of what you’re teaching. Perhaps you’d be able to prove proficiency in Spanish so that you wouldn’t have to take classes in Spanish because you’re already proficient in it.

My aunt is native spanish speaker and a Honduran teacher… and she is working like a spanish teacher but payed like a substitute, because she don’t got a USA teacher license.. if you found a school that could help you, they might give you work, if not, you will need to study to be a teacher or if you are a teacher in argentina you will have to make ur license in usa (one year)..
